Guides - 1st Thurstaston Annual Report 2010

1st Thurstaston Guides Annual Report 2010

We have had a fabulous year celebrating the Centenary of GirlGuiding.

In the early part of the year, we took part in the Tipi Challenge organised by Wirral County, which involved doing lots of activities related to North American and Red Indian Culture, and finished the challenge with an evening at Hadlow fields (in July) doing activities in the Tipi’s.

In the Summer Term, we did many activities from the Centenary “Adventure 100” Challenge which included Mini Olympics, a walk to Thors Rock in Thurstaston and a Photograph competition. We also went to “Guys and Dollies” at Waddow which was a special Centenary Camp, and to “Fusion” which was a fabulous day with over 20,000 members of GirlGuiding at Harewood House in Leeds.

The Autumn Term was dedicated to “100 Years of Homemaking” Challenge Badge. We had great fun making corn dollies, cleaning the brasses at St Bartholomew’s, Flower Arranging, Soap Making, Sweet Making and Learning to sew our badges onto our uniforms. We also took part in “Vision” which was the Centenary finale with fireworks and renewal of our promise at 20:10 on 20/10 in 2010.

We end the year with 22 Guides and look forward to welcoming several Brownies after Christmas.
